Sterling McCall Buick GMC invites you to review everything there is to love about the new 2021 GMC HUMMER EV in Houston, TX. There is an old line that states 'You can't go home again.' The phrase is memorable because of the recognition that after being away for some time, home is not going to be what you remember. There has not been a brand-new HUMMER in 10 years, so does that idea apply here? At first blush, the HUMMER EV seems the part but it's when you look under the hood you realize this is not the SUV you remember. It's missing its massive V8 engines, they've been replaced with batteries and electric motors. However, do not misunderstand this is not a maximum efficiency, hyper-miling wannabe. No, with approximately 1,000 horsepower available, the HUMMER EV is the World's First SuperTruck and it is ready to raise the HUMMER off-road legacy.
HUMMER EV Performance
Capability is the hallmark of a Hummer and the new 2021 HUMMER EV just transformed expectations on just what that should look like. The standard trim (known as the HUMMER EV2) will be powered by two electric motors supplying it with an eye-popping 625hp and 7,400lb-ft of torque. Even with that much standard power, you get approximately 250 miles of range when fully charged. The HUMMER EV EDITION 1 gets three electric motors, 1000 horsepower, 11,500lb-ft of torque, and 350 miles of range on a full charge. Speaking of charging, some trim levels are compatible with a brand-new quick charger that can supply nearly 100 miles of range in just about 10 minutes. Possibilities, demolished.
HUMMER EV Design Highlights
The all-new HUMMER EV was designed to be the greatest off-road supertruck and features some impressive design components based on that goal. Modern LED lighting, 35-inch tires, and the Infinity Roof are just the beginning. Upgrades will be amenities like the segment-exclusive 4 Wheel Steer, CrabWalk, Air Suspension with Extract Mode, MultiPro tailgate, powered rear window, and power tonneau. Electric has never looked so tenacious.
In addition to the incomparable electric engine technology, the all-new HUMMER EV will also have some dramatic tech like UltraVision. This new camera tech has rear and front underbody cameras that give a 'virtual spotter' when navigating obstacles. Other available features are Super Cruise, Watts to Freedom, Drive Mode Control, and a 13.4-inch infotainment screen. The brand-new HUMMER EV proves that just maybe you actually could go home again after all.
